WHAT A BUSY DAY!

Well, it sure was a busy day in kindergarten today.  Take a look at a few of the great things that happened in our classroom today.

We are beginning to talk about the season of fall.  Mrs. Allan brought in lots of interesting gourds for our science discovery center.  Today we cut these gourds open and make "paint stampers' out of them.

We talked about the colours, designs, shapes and patterns that we made as we explored this activity.  These beautiful works of art will be on display in our classroom!

We began our "sharing" program today.  Every day our students build, draw, paint, write and create wonderful pieces of work that they wish to share with the rest of the class.  Today we learned how to sign up for "sharing".   We talked about how we only share something we are "proud" of and something that we have put lots of effort into making.  Students who wish to share have to sign their name on the "sharing" paper and try to print the name of the item they wish to share.  We talked about using our "best guess spelling" to print our words.  It was great to see so many children excited to share and eager to "sound out words" on our sign-up paper!  At the end of the day those students who signed up had a brief chance to show their item to the class!  Today we had lego creations, paintings and writing items to share.  Wow, I can't wait to see what our friends will have to share tomorrow!

We sorted apples today and used a variety of describing words to talk about the appearance of the apples.  The best part was that we got to do a "taste test"!  We all sampled the three different types of apples and then chose our favourite type of apple.  Look at the graph we constructed together!
