Happy Easter to All!

We hope everyone enjoyed a fantastic long Easter weekend.  We had lots of fun and learning at school as we participated in egg experiments, an egg hunt and explored different art techniques as we decorated paper eggs.

What have we been up to in JK/SK?

Reading stories with Mrs. Allan is always a favorite activity!

The play dough table continues to be a popular place!  Thanks to all our parents who keep our play dough supply going!

Creating our very own puppets and plays!

We are reading books by author Mem Fox.  She wrote a book called "Whoever You Are". This book is about children all over the earth.  We created a large earth and this week coming up we are going to decorate the earth with pictures of ourselves!

Working on our "vet center".  We created a bird cage for this center! 

Practicing our data management skills - we created a survey to find out what pets we have.

Castle Center Open!

Following the children's lead, we decided to transform our dramatic play area into a castle.  This idea came from a small group of children who were reading a book about a castle.  We brainstormed as a class all the things we would need to create a castle.  Before long, many of our students were involved in setting up this new imaginative play center.

We added some cozy beanbag chairs and books to our castle center and suddenly we had a great new quiet reading area as well!

We asked the children to tell us everything they know about castles.  All students were asked to draw a picture of a castle.  Look at the fantastic drawings made by the children!

Many friends took it upon themselves to design and draw their very own castles on large paper.

We visited the school library to find books about castles.

We read Robert Munsch's story "The Paper Bag Princess".  We created character pieces to go with this story.
