Fun at the Fall Market

We are continuing to learn about the seasonal changes associated with fall.  We have been busy converting our house center into a fall market.  The children were actively involved in this process as they helped print letters on signs, sorted materials and created artwork for this center.  We have been very impressed by the cooperation shown by the children as they play at this center and work together to tidy it up at clean up time.

A Fun Day At the Apple Orchard

The sun may not have been shining, but our kindergarten friends still had a great trip to Thiessen's Apple Orchard on Tuesday!

Thanks so much to the many parents and grandparents who volunteered and helped provide supervision on this outing.  We are excited to continue our learning about apples this week back at school.  We will begin our "apple inquiry" by observing how apples change in the baking and drying process.  As well, we will be coming up with "I wonder…" statements to further our learning about apples.  For example, we have already investigated the "I wonder if apples sink or float"….and the answer is…they float!

Super Science Fun

On Wednesday, we started our "Super Science Wednesday" activity.  Each Wednesday, we engage as a whole class activity in a science experiment.  We learn to gather materials, make predictions, problem-solve, make observations and conclusions…just like real scientists!

This week, we began exploring coloring mixing.  We talked about primary colors and then had some fun mixing lots of colors and observing the results.  We made use of our word wall color words to help in our discoveries!
