Look what we have been up to this week in Kindergarten...

The grocery store is open!

We made grocery lists!  Fantastic writing experience!

The line-ups were pretty long at the grocery store!  This center was a popular place to be this week.

Mrs. Stecher taught us a new game called "1, 2, 3 close your eyes for me".  In this game, one friend covered a number on the number chart while the rest of the class had our eyes closed.  Then we opened our eyes and had to figure out what number was covered up.

We compared apples to pumpkins.  We discovered there are many differences and similarities between apples and pumpkins.

Fun times playing "Snakes and Ladders".

Rainy Day Yoga!

It was a very rainy Thursday, so it seemed the perfect day to introduce our class to Yoga in the music room.  The children did a fantastic job learning and following different yoga moves and positions!  Can you recognize any friends in yoga position?

A Fall Nature Walk

We are beginning an inquiry on the season of fall.  We are talking about the changes associated with the season of fall.  Our Super Science investigation today lead us to a fall nature walk.  We are very lucky at Colchester North Public School to have our very own pond area to explore.  We walked to the pond area and searched for signs of fall.  Along the way, we saw lots of interesting insects, plants and trees.  We wondered what creatures might live in the pond area...turtles, beavers, squirrels, birds??

A beautiful fall day! Observing the changing colour of the leaves!

Sharing our discoveries back in the classroom...

Some students used the natural items to make books and art creations!

At the Apple Orchard...

It was a beautiful day at the apple orchard!  Our JK/SK classes had a great first field trip of the school year to Thiessen's Apple Orchard.  A very big thanks to the many parent/grandparent volunteers who joined us on this special outing.  We hope everyone enjoys eating their apples!  We will be baking apple crisp at school on Friday with some of the apples from the apple orchard.

Learning about the life cycle of the apple tree

All aboard the wagon...
Let's go to the apple orchard!

Picking apples with our friends!

Sneaking a little bite of some tasty apples...

Time to play...

A little tired on the ride home...
What a great day at the apple orchard!
