Happy 100th Day of Kindergarten!

Showing off our collection of 100 things! Great job to all our kindergarten families for bringing in so many great items to show what 100 can look like!

Even Mrs. York brought in 100 things!  100 stars - thanks Mrs. York!

Lots of activities to do on the 100th day of kindergarten! Can you put 100 spots on the dog?

Can you find the number 100?

We made 100 day headbands!

We did 100 exercises! What a workout!

Ms. Ducharme wondered...."What takes longer...to pop popcorn in the microwave or to count by 1's to 100?" We discovered it took us longer to count to 100 than to pop the popcorn.  We got to enjoy a yummy popcorn treat!

100 numbers went missing!  We went on a number hunt around the classroom and had to find all the numbers.  We placed the numbers on our 100 chart.  Fantastic job class!

Our grade 5/6 buddies helped us to make a 100 things poster using things from around the classroom.  We made 10 groups of 10 things to get to 100.  Can you count by 10's to 100?

We wrote 100 words using the smelly markers!

Of course, we had to read lots of stories about 100 days of kindergarten too! What a great day!

Read-A-Thon Fun Day

We returned from Family Day Weekend to our School Read-a-thon!
We were fortunate to have some guest readers in our classroom, such as Mrs. Allan (our ECE from last year), Essex hockey players and a police officer.  As well, our friends from Mr. Klassen's grade 8 class joined our class to read some children's books that the grade 8 students had created.  We also enjoyed reading some books by our favorite author Robert Munsch.  We had some independent reading time in our classroom and also read our "take home reading books".  We read a "recipe" to make chocolate chips cookies.  We will be sharing these cookies with the new friends that come visit our school on Open House Night.  We even got to enjoy a cookie too!
It was another busy day!

Welcome back Mrs. Allan!  Thanks for reading to us!

Taking some time to do some independent book browsing!

It was great to have hockey players come to read with us!

Time to read a recipe!

Happy Valentine's Day

We celebrated Valentine's Day a little early on Thursday February 11th.  The children had lots of fun delivering their Valentine cards to their classmates.

The water table was a fun place to explore with red water and red hearts.

We made Valentine creatures using paper.  We took our Valentine creatures on a walk to the office.

We went on a hunt in our classroom for sight words.  They were hidden around the room on hearts.  We did a great job reading and writing these words!

We estimated how many red Smarties were in the container.  We talked about what estimation means!

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Measuring with Hearts!

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, we explored the concept of measurement using hearts.  We measured a few common classroom items and compared the lengths of these objects.

We also used hearts to compare heights.  We discovered that Miss Nicole, our lunch time assistant, was the tallest person.  We recorded our results on paper.
