Games day!
Thanks to those who brought a game to school on Friday! I was very proud of the cooperation, sharing and showing of responsibility for the game pieces during our game time! We had lots of fun working together and it was interesting to hear the great vocabulary being used to explain how to play the different games!

Our Elf Hunt
You may have heard by now that we have a class elf that visits us each day. Every morning the children rush into the classroom to see where our little elf friend may be hiding. One day this week, we discovered our elf had messed up all the words on our word wall. On Thursday, we were surprised to find the elf was not in our classroom at all! This led us on an adventure around the school from Miss Elford's classroom, to the library to the music room to the gym and finally to the office!
We ended up making a map to figure out where we had been and where we were going next.
We found the elf in the ice machine in the office! Our elf was wrapped up in bandages! We think perhaps our elf had an accident flying around. Poor little elf.
Mrs. Petta suggested we take our elf back to our classroom to rest. So, Ms. Ducharme carefully carried our elf back to the kindergarten room. Our writing center and art center then became a busy place for the students to write letters and make cards to help our elf feel better!
What an exciting day in kindergarten!!

The children participated in many pattern activities throughout the day, such as building patterns with Lego, painting patterns, beading patterns, a pattern challenge game and a pattern hunt around our school.

Making Patterns!
We are currently exploring patterns as our mathematical focus. We were challenged to create our very own patterns using a variety of manipulatives in cooperation with a partner! At home, look around for patterns! Can you find patterns in the kitchen? the living room? In your bedroom? What materials could you use at home to create your very own pattern? Don't forget a pattern must REPEAT! Can you identify the CORE of the pattern?
