Making Birdfeeders!!
Today our class worked hard on making birdfeeders using bagels, birdseed, lard and string. Each student is taking their birdfeeder home. We are looking forward to hearing about what happens to this birdfeeder in your backyard. We also hung some bird feeders around the school yard and we will be checking to see if our bird feeders change over time.

Ice Cream Shop is Open for Business
It took some planning and work, but our kindergarten friends finally celebrated the grand opening of our ice cream shop. We created signs and labels using our best guess spelling and by copying print. We are working on math as we count the play money. We decorated the center with our "icecream art masterpieces". Of course we are working on cooperation and turn taking as we play together. A successful first day at the ice cream shop!!

Planting in JK/SK
This week our Super science Wednesday investigation focused on planting. Each child had the opportunity to plant a sunflower seed. We discussed the elements necessary for a seed to grow and recorded this in our science journals. We also are in the process of making plant diagrams in which we label the parts of a plant.
Fighting Island
Sorry it has taken a few days, but here are some photos from our adventure on Fighting Island. Weather certainly could have been better, but we still had lots of great learning opportunities. From boarding the boat, exploring animal tracks, examining a pond, nature hike and planting, it was a busy day! Thanks to all the volunteers who joined us on this outing! Back at school our students did a fantastic job writing and drawing about their experiences.
