Super Science Fun - Melting
We are continuing to build upon the children's interest in science and discovery, so we focussed once again on snow for this week's Super Science investigation.
The question posed to the children was…
"What can we do to melt snow in different ways?"
Our little scientists got their thinking caps on and right away the hands were up with lots of ideas of different things we could do to melt snow. So, the race was on to see which method would melt the snow the fastest.
Here we talked about different types of salt…this is not the type of salt we use in cooking and baking. |
One suggestion was to hold the snow in our hand….we discovered that while the snow did melt, it was way too cold to do that for very long! That is why we wear mittens and gloves! |
Another suggestion was to use a fan. |
Here is the snow by the heater. |
